Where the Science of Wellbeing Meets the Future of Artificial Intelligence
Prof. Llewellyn E. van Zyl (Ph.D) is an award-winning psychologist and data scientist helping leaders design artificial intelligence systems that are psychologically safe, scientifically grounded, and worthy of human trust.

Artificial intelligence should expand human agency, and not erode it.
I am a multi-award-winning psychologist and data scientist, and one of the leading voices on building psychologically safe and ethically governed artificial intelligence systems.
With over 100 scientific publications, 13 books, and 50+ keynotes, my work sits at the intersection of data-science, positive psychology, and artificial intelligence governance. I help organisations design, evaluate, and audit artificial intelligence systems that measure and develop people in ways that are psychologically safe, scientifically grounded, and worthy of human trust.
The artificial intelligence systems we build should empower people to understand themselves, help them make better decisions, and help them to take more control of their own lives. But they should not replace their judgment, nor nudge them toward outcomes they never chose for themselves. That is the standard I holds every artificial intelligence system to.

Where I Can Help
Strategic advisory at the intersection of psychology, data science, and responsible artificial intelligence design.
Thought Leadership and Advisory
Keynotes, writing, and strategic consulting on the future of work in an age of agentic artificial intelligence. I help leaders make sense of what happens when intelligent systems become colleagues, not just tools, and what that means for human performance, wellbeing, and organisational design.

Wellbeing Science and Intervention Design
Strategic advisory on designing wellbeing interventions that actually work at scale. Most programs target the average employee who does not exist. I help organisations build precision approaches that see real people, not composites.

AI Assurance and Governance
Independent evaluation of artificial intelligence-driven assessment and measurement platforms for regulatory compliance, model drift, algorithmic bias, and psychological safety. I audit what matters: whether your systems are trustworthy enough to make decisions about people.

Psychologically Safe AI Infrastructure
Designing governed AI systems that build human agency through bounded measurement, transparent safeguards, and evidence-weighted learning.
